The Shack is a real place located in Yeagertown Pennsyvlania. It is a detatched one car garage in a back alley. It came about as a result of wives complaining about the number of guys congregating in their living room watching football on Saturdays and Sundays. The garage was sitting there, not being used.The dirt floor was covered with gravel, a picnic table was carried in, and a 21 inch tv was liberated from someones bedroom, and THE SHACK was born.
When the weather got colder an old woodburning stove was installed. Later on a poker table arrived, and the picnic table was removed. The SHACK was as free as could be, and a great place to congregate.
You carried your own beer, and placed it in a snow drift outside the door. Conversation and activities were always stimulating. Just about any Friday or Saturday night would find someone tying flies, or Jimmy and his Dad pickin thier guitars. Maybe a poker game, or a game of Liars poker, while others conversed, and argued. Never had a fight or saw anyone leave mad. Discussion ranged from what fly to fish, to what handload, who missed what while hunting, football, baseball, hockey, basketball. All the things that guys discuss, while sitting alone. This is what I would like to see this site be.
I will not list last names but the original SHACK GUYS were Harve, Jimmy, George, Sonny, Keith, Troy, Roger, and Tom. I may have missed one or two but thats how I remember it.
